With 81 votes in favor the parliament adopted the decision annulling the referendum. The substantiation - there is no need to hold a referendum as the amendments to the Constitution adopted in the National Assembly were enough to solve the Constitutional Court crisis.
The MP Vahagn Hovakimyan ("My Step" faction) who presented the issue, stated that the amendments to the Constitution allow refusing to hold a referendum. "In fact this is an urgent issue because the law actually contradicts the Constitution, and we must solve this problem urgently", he said.
Thus the Constitutional Referendum which was planned to be held, will not take place as there is no need for it anymore. Only the deputies of "My Step" faction and one independent deputy took part in the sitting. The BP and PA factions did not attend the sitting.
