The Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Michel Tieren, Special Adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO) European Regional Director, who heads the mission to Armenia. The WHO mission is in Armenia to study Armenia's strategy in the fight against coronavirus disease and to make suggestions.
The Prime Minister praised the close cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the WHO, as well as its technical assistance in the fight against coronavirus.
Michel Tieren presented to the RA Prime Minister the impressions from the visits to the Armenian medical institutions in the context of studying the strategy of the country and presenting proposals.
He noted that he was impressed by the conditions created for the treatment of coronavirus patients in Armenian medical centers emphasizing the fact that there are no patients here who are in poor health but are not hospitalized due to lack of space.
According to Tieren the information about this epidemic is not complete in the world, that is why so far specialists and experts present not similar views on the fight against it. According to him it is only possible to find the tools to fight the infection as a result of research conducted over time. In this context Mr. Tieren stressed the need and effectiveness of wearing a mask, maintaining social distance and washing hands.
According to the head of the WTO mission no choice should be made between subjecting the economy to lockdown and opening it. Experience has shown that one must learn to live in this conditions by following the behavioral and safety rules.
At the end of the meeting the RA Prime Minister stressed the need to ensure the continuity of the exchange of experience between the RA Ministry of Health and WHO.
