The President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen sent a joint letter to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
"Mr. Prime Minister let us thank You for Your congratulations on Europe Day. The European Union and Armenia are taking the opportunity to establish close relations within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The European Union and Armenia have done so on the basis of strong common values for both sides, including democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights.
We encourage you to continue your reform efforts on this solid foundation. This year alas we have to face the challenge of the coronavirus. it's a disaster that affects us all. We learned that you were personally infected with the virus, and we're glad you recovered.
This is a time of solidarity and close international cooperation. The European Union has already provided concrete support to Armenia to counter this crisis, in particular by mobilizing 92 million euros from European funds, and the European Union will continue to be involved for the benefit of your country.
This support applies not only to health but also to socio-economic concepts of the crisis. Together we will be able to overcome this crisis to build a better future”, the letter reads.
