Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan summed up the economic indicators for April, reminding that the state had imposed severe restrictions due to the coronavirus epidemic. The Prime Minister said that 71,471 jobs were lost in the country in April.
"Analyzing this and some other data we came to the conclusion that we must finally adopt a strategy to live in parallel with the coronavirus, because if we focus only on the healthcare sector, we would have not an economic downturn but a collapse", he said.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, as of May, 50,094 jobs have already been restored in Armenia. "The job recovery process is still going on, and this is probably the best news we've had lately.
But this does not mean that we have overcome the economic complexity. This means that we have started a process of recovery, which we must continue to be able to record new economic indicators", said the PM.
He noted that economic indicators were unexpected for him. "This once again convinces me that we must do our best to avoid the need to return to lockdown,
because in terms of health we have a certain decrease in numbers, but in economic terms it may be such a collapse that we will not be able to recover for decades.
And now wee all need to follow the anti-epidemic rules exactly", the Prime Minister mentioned.
