During the briefing with the journalists in the parliament the NA Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan referred to the tweet of the EPP President Donald Tusk.
Simonyan noted that the statement is conditioned with the unwritten rule that the leader of the EPP always supports the representatives of the parties belonging to their group, including Serzh Sargsyan.
Tusk wrote: "EPP is concerned by numerous instances of backsliding of democracy in Armenia. We call on Armenian authorities to refrain from pressuring the opposition".
"I think Mr. Tusk should be more restrained and not interfere in the affairs of the people of Armenia. In order to protect Serzh Sargsyan there are more appropriate and more specialized people. I think Mr. Tusk sees Armenia through the eyes of Serzh Sargsyan: These are eyes cut off from reality. They have nothing to do with the citizens of Armenia, with the reality of Armenia for a long time”, said Simonyan.
The NA Vice Speaker considered more important the reports presenting a more serious, authoritative and comprehensive scene. "For example, yesterday was the
statement of the head of the Venice Commission which is a much more eloquent assessment of the processes taking place in Armenia", Simonyan stated.
