"I think the time has come to admit that we have not been able to persuade or force our citizens to keep the most effective anti-epidemic rule - wearing a mask". The Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the briefing today.
"Contrary to our decisions, the administrative methods and the large-scale propaganda, people do not wear masks en masse. I must say that this is the number one reason for the spread of coronavirus in Armenia", said Prime Minister.
According to him the basis for such a conclusion was an international study published by Forbes magazine. The Prime Minister noted - according to that article, the experience of dozens of countries affected by the coronavirus shows that masks have a decisive effect in the fight against this virus and allow to significantly reduce the spread of infection.
This study says masks are also very necessary for healthy people, they allow them not to inhale the particles in the atmosphere which can stay in the air for tens of minutes. This is a sensational statement, said the Prime Minister.
"We will increase the methods of administrative influence, but we expect our citizens to follow those rules. I don't know any other method and I call on the citizens of the Republic of Armenia again - don't be indifferen toward people without mask, ask them to wear a mask and keep a social distance. Until we meet these conditions, the epidemic will not be overcome", said the Prime Minister.
