During today's discussion of the issue of extending the state of emergency in the parliament for a month, the main speaker, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, noted that the reason for the decision is that the causes of the state of emergency announced in March have not disappeared and the coronavirus epidemic continues to spread in the country.
Medical facilities are overcrowded, the Prime Minister said, adding that as of yesterday 1551 out of 1857 ordinary beds were occupied, 204 out of 239 resuscitation beds were occupied. The expansion continues, the situation is critical.
"Overcoming coronavirus is not so much a health issue but a public behavioral, disciplinary issue. My perception in this case is that the solution is in our minds and in our heads. This situation can be overcome only by public behavior changes. According to various forecasts, the coronavirus will exist in the world for 1.5 years", Pashinyan said, adding that it is necessary to live with the "hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst" scenario.
"If our numbers are so high, it means that we have not followed the anti-epidemic rules at the right level. If we had kept the right level of observance , we would most likely have reduced the numbers today. I want to state that regardless of the efforts of the Government if these rules are not widely observed it will be impossible to overcome the epidemic", said the Prime Minister.
