The year 2019 was unprecedented for Armenian aviation in that we had the opportunity to provide access to several European airlines to Armenia and to provide flights to European countries with an affordable ticket.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan said this during the discussion of the execution of the 2019 budget in the National Assembly.
Touching upon the fact that the airlines certified in Armenia are in the EASA black list of the European Aviation Safety Agency, the Minister noted that this problem has not arisen in one day and is not the result of 2019 at all.
"Of course there is concern about that, and if it were possible to avoid it, that would be good, but we have what we have. We too are responsible for any shortcomings made in our country before", Papikian emphasized.
He stated that the government's vision is to do everything possible to have a local air carrier and own aviation. "It's about real, not artificial air carriers. I think it is possible to implement that program in two years", the minister said.
