Today at the sitting of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), Hrant Tadevosyan, the chairman of the Board of Gazprom Armenia CJSC, explained why the company had submitted an application for gas price increase.
He noted that today the tariff set for 2016 is in force. "As of January 1, 2019, when the price of gas imported to Armenia became $ 165, we continued to sell gas for $ 255. Of that $ 90 about $ 43 we pay to the budget as the first taxpayer. $ 12 out of $ 47 is a loss. Of the $ 35, 19 is salary. Gazprom Armenia has only $ 16 left", Tadevosyan commented.
According to him this data proves that it is impossible to keep the system. Their main task is to balance the interests of consumers and suppliers. "In order to have a reliable and safe gas supply we must carry out the necessary normative expenses, which have not been done so far", said the company's general director.
On April 1 this year Gazprom Armenia submitted an application to the PSRC to review the natural gas tariffs sold to consumers, proposing to increase the tariff of $ 255 charged per 1,000 cubic meters by 11% - $ 283.
The PSRC had been offering Gazprom Armenia not to change the gas tariff for the population.
