Today the President of the Republic of Armenia signed the Law on the Approval of the Council of Europe Convention on the "Protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse".
The Office of the RA President informs that the President will continue to pursue the conscientious and responsible implementation of the Convention within the framework of his powers under the RA Constitution.
The law adopted by the RA National Assembly was submitted to the President of the Republic on May 12 this year. Before the adoption of the law by the National Assembly, the RA Constitutional Court had made a decision on March 31, 2020, according to which the obligations under the Convention comply with the Constitution of Armenia.
The Convention emphasizes that the welfare and best interests of children are fundamental values for all member states of the Council of Europe. The Convention envisage a precautionary measures against the dangers of violence against children.
