Tatik Hayrapetyan, a member of the "My Step" faction of the RA National Assembly, referring to the
decision of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the murder of Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan, called it a legal assessment of "Azerbaijan's fascist policy".
"The verdict clearly states that Articles 2 and 14 of the European Convention, the right to life and the prohibition of discrimination, have been violated. Safarov's crime was described as a crime committed on ethnic grounds. I think this decision is very eloquent. It makes it quite clear what we are talking about when we regularly record the thesis on vital security, clearly stating that it is not subject to concessions, "the MP said.
Recalling that Azerbaijan has declared multiculturalism a priority in the country, the MP said: "What kind of multiculturalism can we talk about when the murderer who committed a brutal crime on ethnic grounds is glorified and personally awarded by the country's president?".
