The Court of Cassation upheld the appeals filed by the Prosecutor General regarding 9 persons, overturned the convictions of the lower courts and recognized their innocence. Adviser to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan informed 1lurer.am about it.
"Today the RA Court of Cassation with its decisions fully satisfied the RA Prosecutor General's appeals on the convictions of 9 people cases related to the events that took place before and after 2008 presidential elections”, Abrahamyan said.
Opposition figures arrested in the aftermath of the presidential election in 2008 were considered as political prisoners by the Armenian opposition and international human rights organizations. Their justification became possible only after the Velvet Revolution in Armenia.
