Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan paid a working visit to Ararat region. He is accompanied by the Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan, the Governor of Ararat region Garik Sargsyan, the MP of the "My Step" faction Sergey Atomyan, other officials.
The first stop was the 13-hectare intensive orchards of Azatavan community, where pears are cultivated. The person who founded the orchards told the Prime Minister that they used the state support program in three stages, including the purchase of agricultural machinery and the establishment of orchards.
Pashinyan's second stop was the flower greenhouse in Azatavan community of the region. The Prime Minister toured the greenhouse, got acquainted with the flower cultivation works, inquired whether it is profitable to do flower business in Armenia or not.
The owner of the flower greenhouse said that he was not complaining about the profitability of the business, he was bringing flower seeds from the Netherlands, but when applied for a loan to expand the business he was rejected.
In Verin Dvin community, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the work of the anti-hail system. To the question of the Prime Minister whether the system is effective or not, the villagers answered that the last time, when hail caused damage, was 5 years ago. The anti-hail stations were not installed yet at the time, and after their installation the harvest was not damaged.
Narek Galstyan, head of the Ararat region's anti-hail service, briefed the prime minister on the network's work, noting that there are three types of anti-hail systems in the region, including Armenian-made ones, which do not allow one of Armenia's most agricultural regions to suffer from hail.
One of the villagers said that he did not trust the anti-hail system and insured his vineyards and apricot orchards.
The last stop of the Prime Minister in Ararat region was Narek community, where the Prime Minister got acquainted with the vineyards, apricots and peach orchards. .
The founder of the orchards mentioned that he cultivates only armenian, aboriginal grapes, such as Sati, Kharji, Kakhet, Jilar, etc., with drip irrigation. "Our brandy, which has become famous, that was at the expense of these varieties", said the villager.
Prime Minister Pashinyan said that the traditional method of processing that exists in Armenia will not enrich people. "Until the culture of agriculture and land cultivation is changed, the problems will not be solved”, said the Prime Minister.
