Today, on 19 March, Ms Lynne Tracy, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to the Republic of Armenia and Dr. Anna Yeghiazaryan, ARCS Secretary General were present at sorting and packaging process of the humanitarian aid, to be distributed in RA regions.
To relieve the social consequences of Covid-19 on vulnerable groups of population, with the support of USA International Development Agency, 8022 lonely and childless elderly, and vulnerable families in all over the country, receive one-month food and hygiene parcels from Armenian Red Cross Society.
"The United States is proud to partner with the IFRC and Armenian Red Cross Society to combat COVID-19 in Armenia. The Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing much needed assistance to some of the most vulnerable households in the country during this difficult time", Ms Ambassador said.
Armenian Red Cross Society volunteers deliver the parcels, composed based on the standards of basic food and protective measures basket defined by the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for one person, to the homes of the beneficiaries.
“ The Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), as an auxiliary organization to the public authorities in the humanitarian field and the largest voluntary organization in the country, represented in all the regions and numerous communities, rom the very first days of the State of Emergency, has been implementing activities in response to the needs of vulnerable groups in collaboration and coordination with the Commandant’s office, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, all the Administrative Regions of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality. We thank our partners for being by our side during this response and giving us an opportunity to help thousands of people”, Dr Anna Yeghiazaryan, ARCS Secretary General stated.
