The sitting of the Commission of RA government coordinating the work on preventing the spread of coronavirus was held, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In his speech the Prime Minister noted that the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in recent days has become very worrying. "I think it's time for us to think about making some adjustments in our fight against coronavirus," he said, adding: "our calculations show that if we don't change anything, by the end of May we will have about 10,000 positively diagnosed patients, and by mid June that number could reach 20,000. This means that we need to review the measures we have taken".
According to the Prime Minister, the strategy of the crisis management office was generally to learn to live a normal life in the presence of coronavirus. "Obviously, by saying this we mean being able to manage the situation in such a way that after easing restrictions, there will be no need again to go back to previous restrictions. But unfortunately we are not sure we will be able to maintain this tactic. Our main task remains to learn to continue to live in the conditions of coronavirus and to take the spread of virus under strict control ", said Pashinyan.
According to him, during the crisis caused by the coronavirus, it was possible to keep inflation's minimum threshold and the financial market was not shaken. "I think we need to continue our tactics. We should not underestimate the economic problems in contrast to the health problems. But on the other hand, not solving the health problems can deepen the economic problems and make it difficult to solve", said the PM.
The further steps to be taken to prevent the spread of the infection were also discussed at the sitting. Pashinyan stressed the need to exercise strict control over the observance of the established rules, and gave relevant instructions.
