RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated on his Facebook page on the first elections of the Legislative Body of Armenia.
"30 years ago, on this day, the first elections of the legislative body of the Republic of Armenia took place. The 260 deputies elected from all regions of the Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region were destined to fulfill our long-standing national aspirations, which were subject to the 1988 all armenain movement ”, Mirzoyan wrote, adding:
"Before the end of it's work (on May 15, 1995) the first parliament (Supreme Council) of the Republic of Armenia adopted 1169 decisions and 185 laws, which laid the foundation of the legal system of the Republic of Armenia.
And even if all this laws and decisions were not adopted, only with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the referendum decision, the RA Supreme Council was already fixed in golden letters in the pages of the recent history of Armenia”.
"I congratulate all of us on this very important anniversary and send my words of gratitude", the NA Speaker wrote.
