Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, while presenting the "Report on the Implementation and Results of the Government Program for 2019" in the National Assembly, touched upon the crisis in Armenia, the steps taken by the Government and the anti-crisis measures.
Pashinyan presented the results of the 16 anti-crisis measures. He stressed that it is important that the financial market stabilizes very quickly. Unlike many developed countries, we did not have a market collapse, the showcases were never emptied, and inflation was managed, Pashinyan said.
"As of April 20, 2020, 620,905 jobs were registered in Armenia. We are talking about the jobs with which people have received salaries. In February, there were 618 thousand jobs. In the summer of 2019, we recorded for the first time that the number of jobs in Armenia exceeded 600,000. But according to the April 20 report, there were more working people in Armenia than in February. At the same time, in April the salary fund amounted to 123 billion 883 million drams, and in February - 119 billion 700 million drams. In other words, as of April, the citizens of Armenia received about 4 billion more salaries than in February. I state that the Armenian government has managed to manage the crisis in such a way that we can speak with confidence about the absence of a social crisis", said the Prime Minister.
Touching upon the utility payments, the Prime Minister noted that the Government has implemented 4 programs, and for that purpose about 5 billion drams have been transferred.
"Out of the 5 billion drams we transferred, about 2 billion sat on the accounts as an advance payment. About 800 million drams were transferred as an advance payment. About 1.2 billion drams went to the accounts of those people who don't really need it. My call is that those who do not need that support, find a person around you who has a certain need and support that person", said Prime Minister.
"About 70,000 citizens have returned to Armenia since the beginning of March, and 23,000 since the declaration of the state of emergency,” Pashinyan added.
Nikol Pashinyan also stated that the Government was able to keep the socio-economic crisis, while coronavirus is spreading, within the framework of governance.
