High Technology and Industry Minister Hakob Arshakyan reviewed the year, presenting the work of the Ministry and its results.
According to Arshakyan, three strategies have been developed: high technology industry, digitization and military industry development.
The Minister mentioned that around 1bln AMD was allocated to the military industry from savings for new projects. “The involvement of women in high-tech sector is around 38%,” said the Minister, adding that it is one of the highest results in the world.
Arshakyan said that around 230 new companies of the sector had applied for state support to receive privileges by law, creating 1200 new workplaces.
The Minister mentioned that many among the number were individuals and companies from the diaspora. Around 45 companies have been started by Armenians from the diaspora, which means there is an inflow of talent.
New offices of international companies have opened in Armenia, for example Xilinx, which is a leading company in the micro-electronics sector.
The 23rd WCIT, which took place in Armenia, has contributed to the internationalization of the country as a technological center, said Arshakyan, adding that 165 news agencies, including BBC, Forbes, France 24, Reuters, etc., covered the Congress and wrote about Armenia.
