The Investigative Department of the RA SRC has found basis to launch a criminal case against Baghramyan Mayor for abuse of power pursuant to Clause 1, Part 1, Art. 205 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
It was revealed that the Mayor of Baghramyan, being aware that a large company engaged in agriculture in Baghramyan and the adjacent community, intended to acquire new lands and to extend its activity, did not provide relevant information to the representatives of the company, with the purpose to appropriate the community’s lands and to sell for a higher price. For this purpose, the Mayor organized the procurement process through a mediator and falsely announced that the community had no lands subject to sale.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Baghramyan, using his position against the interests of the community, for lucrative reasons, receiving the agreement of the council members of the community, organized a false auction of the land, which won a relative of the Mayor. The land was sold to the relative of the Mayor for a price significantly lower than the market price, namely near 9mln AMD. The relative sold the lands to the buyer company for around 71mln AMD, causing a significant damage to the community in the amount of around 62mln AMD.
The Investigative Department of the SRC has initiated a criminal case pursuant to Part 1, Art. 308 of the RA Criminal Code.
