International media reported the news of the US Senate passing of a resolution to recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide and later started interpreting the decision.
USA Today opines that the action will escalate the tension between the US and Turkey.
"The Senate's action is historic, and it will almost certainly exacerbate U.S.-Turkey tensions. The genocide measure officially recognizes the systematic killing of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1923," writes the periodical.
It also reminds that the Armenian Genocide committed in the beginning of the last century in the Ottoman Empire is recognized by 23 countries, as well as the European Parliament and the World Council of Churches.
