Famous Russian journalist and writer Vladimir Pozner commented on the resolution to recognize the Armenian Genocide by the U.S. Congress House of Representatives. Answering the question by an Armenian user of Instagram, Pozner mentioned that the House resolution has a political subtext.
“What do you think? Why did the U.S. House of Representatives recognize the 1915 massacre as a genocide? Because the US was very angry with President Erdogan for buying S-400 anti-aircraft weapon system from Russia and for starting a military action against the Kurds in northern Syria. This is a political game; they are wholly indifferent about this story.”
Pozner added that the veto on the resolution at the Senate is also in the logic of political games.
On October 29, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide of 2015 in the Ottoman Empire. On November 14, Senator Lindsay Graham blocked the resolution at the Senate.
