On October 15-28, representatives of Armenia’s Armed Forces participated in the 7th Military World Games in Wuhan, China.
Over 10.000 athletes from 105 countries, including Olympic, World and European champions, participated in the Military Games organized by the International Military Sport Council (CISM). Athletes competed in 27 sports.
Fifteen athletes represented Armenia in wrestling, judo, orienteering and gymnastics. Freestyle wrestler Mher Markosyan and gymnast Artur Avetisyan received bronze medals.
The International Military Sport Council was founded on February 18, 1948. CISM is one of the largest international sports organizations with 138 members. The motto of the organization is “Friendship through Sport” and its objective is to unite military representatives of various countries on sport platforms.
CISM periodically organizes regional and world championships of various sports. It also organizes world cadet games with the participation of the students of military academies.
The greatest sport events of the organization are Winter and Summer Military Games. Only active military representatives can participate in these.
Lieutenant colonel Arman Davtyan leads the Armenian delegation in the international council of military sport.
Colonel Aram Grigoryan headed the Armenian delegation in the 7th Military World Games.
