The Foreign Minister of Russia is in Armenia on an official visit. Sergey Lavrov attended the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War together with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
The Foreign Minister of Russia noted that the Armenian people had a right to be proud of their heroes. According to him, Moscow highly appreciates the constant attention of Armenia to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. Lavrov mentioned the march of the “immortal unit”, which Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian also attended this year. The Russian Foreign Minister also stressed the fact that PM Pashinyan was one of the first to respond to Vladimir Putin’s invitation to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War at the Red Square in 2020.
“The centuries-old friendship of the Armenian and Russian people, tempered through different military tests, is a guarantee for the reinforcement of future strategic partnership for the sake of our citizens, for safety and stability in Southern Caucasus and our entire region. We are together in the issue of fighting against the misinterpretation of history, the attempts to revise the internationally accepted outcome of World War 2. The exhibition we are opening is an important and clear contribution in those initiatives,” said Lavrov.
