Spouse of Armenian PM, Chair of the Trustee Board of “My Step” and “City of Smile” Charitable Foundations Anna Hakobyan attended the annual charity dinner of “City of Smile”. Nicolas and Kristina Aznavours, Joef Gypsy Kings Family soloist Joef Fargier, Chair of the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology Alexander Rumyantsev, many business executives, representatives of art and culture, public figures and doctors also attended.
Mrs. Hakobyan told about her visits to many hematology and oncology centers of the world and her conviction that, unlike Armenia, others are less terrified of cancer and consider it a treatable disease.
CEO of the Foundation Esther Demirchyan said that aiming to supporting children with cancer and hematological diseases, the Foundation was striving to do everything possible to contribute to the continuous development of oncology and hematology in Armenia, valuing especially the support given to doctors and medical institutions for ensuring high-quality diagnosis and efficient treatment for the patients. Demirchyan presented the work carried out by the Foundation and the achievements of the year, stressing that within a year the Foundation helped 240 children and young people to receive necessary treatment. The Foundation provided 270mln AMD for medicine, medical exams, surgeries and other medical services. Director of the Institute of Hematology after Yolyan Samvel Danielyan and Chair of the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology Alexander Rumyantsev delivered speeches.
During the dinner, Joef Fargier gave his guitar to 12-year-old Arkady Melkonyan, who was receiving treatment in the Hematology Center. The boy thanked Fargier for the gift and in his turn gave him an Armenian duduk.
Another guitar with the signatures of the band members was put to auction. Mrs. Hakobyan’s gold pendant was also auctioned among other objects. The entire revenue from the auction will be given to the treatment of children with cancer and hematological diseases.
At the end of the dinner, thanking the Foundation for the tremendous work carried out, Kristina Aznavour donated 10mln AMD to the City of Smile on behalf of the Aznavour Foundation.
