Yerevan Zoo Director has accepted the suggestion to hand in his resignation. He made a post in Facebook, clarifying:
“Though I have made the decision by the suggestion of Vice Mayor Tigran Virabyan, I am hopeful that in the result the series of animal deaths (including attacks by street dogs) will stop. I have always had the well-being of animals and public safety in my target.
I officially declare that I have always been and will always be by Yerevan Zoo as a supporter, as well as a teammate and friend of the city authorities and will support the path of progress adopted by the Zoo.
I thank the city authorities for their trust and thank my team for doing more than their job responsibilities intended and for adopting the quick development way of the Zoo.”
