High-Tech Industry Minister of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan participated at the opening ceremony of Smart City Expo Doha 2019 in the framework of the Safe Smart Cities Conference in Qatar and participated in the ministerial discussion on the subject of Smart Cities and Future Way.
Arshakyan talked about the technological progress and development of Armenia, mentioned that the Armenian engineering and algorithmic school has been one of the strongest since Soviet years, and back then Armenia was considered Silicon Valley.
The Minister stressed that the Armenian Government has declared the technological sector a priority. Every year, it grows by 25%. Currently, steps are being taken for fast and dynamic development of AI, digital technologies and other branches of the field. Hakob Arshakyan presented details from the applicability of AI, mentioning that it is mostly aimed to facilitate the lifestyle and work of people.
The Minister also talked about the importance of technological education, mentioning that it must start from school and then continue in the university and academy. The correct organization of this chain has already achieved considerable success.
Arshakyan highlighted the value of the influential Armenian Diaspora on the way of Armenia to attractive technological environment. The Diaspora gives the opportunity to enter world markets not only to Armenian companies, but also to foreign companies intending to start their activity in Armenia.
