The Cabinet approved the widely discussed and controversial project of closing boarding schools.
“This is a decision against despair,” announced PM Nikol Pashinyan, who nonetheless told Minister Zara Batoyan that this decision will be a field day for fake news.
“But our issue is to return children to their families, destroying the stereotype of “orphanage, boarding school student”, which is almost a condemnation,” continued Pashinyan.
The saved money will be directed to the enhancement of opportunities in children daycares.
“The enrichment of the directors and employees of orphanages at the expense of children who have found themselves in difficult life conditions will no longer be tolerated. Former corrupted residues, do not even try to take Armenia back. There are even forces preaching ignorance in the government. We will eradicate all, with tongs, if necessary,” said Pashinyan.
