Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan gave an interview to Vladimir Solovyov, the correspondent of the Russian Kommersant newspaper, touching on the agreement of dree trade between EAEU and Serbia, the protection of Syrian-Armenians, etc.
Taking about the safety of Armenians living in Syria on the background of Russian-Turkish agreements, Pashinyan mentioned that he had discussed the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The Russian president made a promise and kept his word," Pashinyan said. He promised to consider the interests of the Armenians of Qamishli. I had informed him that there was a great Armenian community. We can see that the talk has had a positive outcome,” stressed the PM.
Speaking about the issue of weapons sales to Azerbaijan by member states of the EAEU, including Russia, Pashinyan said it is a matter of the organization’s efficiency.
“Everyone expects that gas price will rise, the questions is when: winter or spring?” asked the journalist. To this, the PM answered that talks are ongoing and will have a concrete outcome.
“We in Armenia see a very good dynamics of economic growth. This issue is important for us not only in terms of the gas price, but also in terms of economic development. I think it is important for our strategic ally Russia that the gas price doesn’t break the dynamics of Armenia’s economic development.”
During the interview, the Prime Minister mentioned that there is no choice between Europe and Russia for Armenia. “Israel Ori, who is considered one of the initiators of Russian presence in our region, intended to free our country from the Turkish and Persian rule with the help of a European army. For this purpose, he first went to Germany and then to Vienna, where the emperor advised him to appeal to the Russian tsar. This is why there is question of choosing between Europe and Russia for us because for us Russia is a part of the European civilization,” said Pashinyan.
