Border village Chinari, Tavush has exported unprecedented quantity of fig and persimmon to Russia. Although the fig season is over, Chinari locals gathered and sent to Russia 7t of fig even today. Mayor of Chinari community Samvel Saghoyan told “News” that they have stored 355t of fig worth over 200mln AMD. “Chinari has been exporting fig for four months,” said Saghoyan.
This year, persimmon trees also bore fruit in the village. Around 60t of persimmon, worth over 10mln AMD has been exported from Chinari. “This is notwithstanding the local market, where the fruit was also sold,” said the Mayor. According to Saghoyan, they do not have great hopes for autumn wheat, as the year has been droughty and the wheat sown over 15ha area has not sprouted yet.
