Member of the Armenian National Weightlifting Team Simon Matirosyan won the gold medal at the Under-23 championship.
He registered 231kg and 236kg results in clean and jerk but was not able to raise the ordered 242kg. The Armenian weightlifter received the gold medal in clean and jerk. With the result of 434kg in the result of two movements, Martirosyan became the U23 European Champion. In the super heavyweight category of the tournament, Martirosyan snatched 192kg in his first approach, failed to snatch 198 in the second and did it in the third, winning the gold medal.
