The Kotayk regional department of the Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of Hayk Harutyunyan. Authorities received a 911 call around 23:59, September 23 that Harutyunyan was shot dead at his house in Bjni.
A criminal case on Article 110 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (deliberate or negligible prompting to commit suicide or attempted suicide through threats, cruel treatment or harassment of a person) has been launched at Kotayk regional department of the Investigative Committee.
Investigators have found a PMS handgun near Harutyunyan’s body at the scene. A bullet case was also found. Traces of blood were also found. Witnesses have been questioned.
The investigation has gathered information that in the preceding period of time from the incident Hayk Harutyunyan has consumed a significant quantity of alcohol.
