The election of the 85th Constantinople Catholicos has officially started.
The Chair of the Religious Council Bishop Sahak Mashalyan was elected as a patriarchal locum tenens by 13 votes in favor in the Church Congress convened in the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople. The other candidate, Archbishop Aram Ateşyan received 11 votes. The election of the 85th Constantinople Catholicos officially began.
