Weightlifting Olympic champion, World and European champion Yuri Vardanyan has passed away aged 62 in the United States.

Yuri Vardanyan was seven-time World champion, five-time European champion, four-time USSR champion and won the gold medal in the Olympic Games of 1980. He set 43 world records and won 111 gold medals.
