Pope Francis anointed the statue of Narek.
The unveiling ceremony of the statue of medieval Armenian poet, composer, philosopher and theologian Gregory of Narek took place in the Gardens of Vatican. Pope Francis anointed the statue of Narek, a Doctor of the Church, and bowed before him. The President of Armenia, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia were present at the ceremony.
