Today, the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day in honor of the Austrian-born doctor Karl Landsteiner, who was born on that same day in 1868. He was the one who discovered human blood groups. In our country blood is mainly collected from donors who get paid. The number of voluntary unpaid donors is small. Today, however, members of the National Assembly participated in the campaign by voluntarily donating their blood.
