For the first time in 15 years Armenia’s Defense Minister visited Cyprus, where he met with his counterpart Christoforos Fokaides. The two Ministers agreed on enhancing cooperation in military education and in the field of training cadets, signing documents on mutual cooperation.

As Cypriot Defense Minister pointed out “Armenian-Cypriot friendship, common interests and challenges are major prerequisites for strengthening relations between the two countries”.
Vigen Sargsyan expressed gratitude for Cypriot Presidents’ and Parliament Speaker’s participation in Armenian genocide 100th centennial events. Regarding the current situation on Azerbaijani-Artsakh border, Defense Minister of Cyprus stressed the conflict should be resolved peacefully, regardless of continuous provocations from Azerbaijani side. Vigen Sargsyan also met with local Armenian community. Patriarchal Vicar of the Diocese in Cyprus expressed the community support in Armenia’s “Nation-Army” concept.
