On March 30th, a grant agreement “For the Project of Improvement of Equipment for Digitizing Archival Records of Public Television of Armenia” was singed at Foreign Ministry of Armenia, between the governments of RA and Japan.
At the presence of Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Vahan Martirosyan signed the agreement on behalf of Armenian side, while Ambassador of Japan in Armenia Taguchi signed on behalf of Japanese government.
The document signing was attended by the chief representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA Katsutoshi Fushimi, head of Armenia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group Farmanyan , and Chairman of the Council of Public TV and Radio Company of Armenia Ruben Jaghinyan.
Following the signing of grant agreement, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Vahan Martirosyan made a speech highlighting the importance of today’s document, stressing that this is another step in the development of cooperation between the two countries.
On the other hand, Ambassador of Japan in Armenia stressed, this is already the second cooperation between the two countries, following the support provided to maintenance of Matenadaran documents earlier in 2001. According to Ambassador, an archive not only preserves national heritage, but also inspires young generation to create new works for the future.
