The 13th concert within the framework of Project 1900+ dedicated to contemporary world music will be held on March 13th, presenting Argentine piano music to the Armenian audience. The concert is organized under the auspices of Embassy to the Argentine Republic in Armenia. The concert soloist is renowned pianist, Project 1900+ Art Director, Honorary Artist of Armenia Hayk Melikyan, who will perform the works by prominent contemporary and 20th century Argentine composers, among them Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Guastavino, Juan José Castro, Ariel Ramires, as well as contemporaries Silvina Milstein and Alessandro Sivilotti
“Project 1900+” is aimed at presenting to the Armenian audience an unprecedented concert based on works by renowned 20th century and contemporary piano music composers from around the world. The given concert is already the thirteenth within the project framework. In this regard we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Ambassador of Argentine Republic to Armenia Mr. Gonzalo Urriolabeitia for his exceptional finesse and willingness in realization of the upcoming event”, said the pianist’s manager, Project 1900+ coordinator Alexandr Hakobyan.
To recap, the project launched back in October 2009 and has ever since presented French, Russian, Swiss, Polish, Japanese, German, Baltic, Italian, Brazilian, Greek, Czech and American piano music concerts. The project is represented by different embassies to Armenia, diplomatic representations and RA Ministry of Culture. The project has also organized a number of events as part of the initiative, among them Contest on Contemporary Armenian Composers (2011). Best selected works have been included in the first volume of 1900+ album in 2013 , followed by a publication of a compilation of musical notes on those works as well. In 2016 the project released “Ortus” CD of American based Armenian composer Tatev Amiryan.
A number of composers have written a variety of works specifically for Project 1900+, Armenian premieres of which have been set throughout the series of concerts held by the project.
