While announcing Best Picture at the Oscars Jimmy Kimmel tweeted US President Donald Trump from Dolby Theatre stage, expressing his worries about president not having tweeted at the show which had started for 2 hours already.
This year’s Oscars was held according to the previously prepared script, except for the most critical and crucial moment of announcing Best Picture Winner. Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the best actress award envelope instead, so they announced “La La Land” as the winner, and went ahead congratulating, while it turned out Barry Jenkin’s “Moonlight” had in fact won the Award.
“La La Land” creative team did not feel disappointed since the picture directed by Damien Chazelle had won in a number of nominations, taking the Oscar statuette for “Best Performance’, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score (Justin Hurwitz), Best Original Song, Best Director Damien Chazelle (La La Land).Emma Stone won an Oscar for Best Actress in leading role. Casey Affleck took the award for best actor in a leading role for "Manchester by the Sea.
