1957 marks 80th anniversary of Thomas Edison’s invention of gramophone. This fact became of great interest at the Council of US National Recording Academy, the members of which had long thought about organizing an award ceremony, which would honor achievements in the music industry. Right then preparatory works were launched and the Grammy award was named after gramophone.
