Such a suggestion had previously been made back in 2008 and 2013, yet Nazarbayev opposed to this
The initiative to turn president Nursultan Nazarbayev into a religious person is becoming more and more common in Kazakhstan. During a joint session of both houses of the parliament, a unanimous decision was made to rename the country’s capital city Astana after president Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Such a suggestion had previously been made back in 2008 and 2013, yet Nazarbayev opposed to this. Critics have no doubt that the so called demand on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan will be adopted, unless the president himself says “enough is enough, no more jokes”.
