Renowned Armenian writer, translator, cinema screenwriter, RA Honorary Worker of Culture Ruben Hovsepyan, 77, passed away after long and severe illness. In 1970-74 Hovsepyan attended Moscow Higher courses of screenwriting. In 1975-76 he worked as chief editor of youth programs at the State Committee of ASSR State Committee for Radio and Television Broadcasting of the Council of Ministers. In 1981-82 he was head of the “Soviet Writer” publishing house fiction literary department.
It was Ruben Hovsepyan who first introduced the Armenian translation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s works in 1979 –first the "One Hundred Years of Solitude" followed by "Autumn of the Patriarch".
