New wave of repression escalates in Turkey. Turkish police forces have raided Kurdish İMC TV office in Istanbul and taken the TV station off air. The same thing had happened to a number of other Kurdish TV Channels earlier last week. Erdogan’s government blames mass media for preaching terrorism. The following act has raised anger among journalists, who have marched a protest in Istanbul. The rioters have announced they will not allow to close down all the existing media in the country by only maintaining one official channel. Critics have accused Turkish President Erdogan of using the 15 July failed coup attempt as an opportunity to silence and purge all opposition in the country.
On the suspicion of keeping in touch with spiritual preacher Fethullah Gülen, another 13 thousand people have been dismissed from their posts – 2.5 thousands out of which hold leading posts.
On the other hand, Ankara is facing another problem on the Iraqi front. Ankara has no intentions to retreat despite the resolution adopted by Iraqi parliament that condemns Turkish troops’ invasion into the country’s Mosul province, turkey’s Defense Minister has announced, their main intention is invading Mosul and fighting against Islamists.
