Shimon Peres,93, Israel's former prime minister and former president, has passed away. Peres was one of the most prominent political figures of Israel.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 for his role negotiating the Oslo peace accords with the Palestinians a year earlier, a prize he shared with Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was later assassinated, and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
Shimon Peres suffered a stroke two weeks ago.
His compatriots remember him as a “man of peace” and highly appreciate his work in establishing unity and solidarity throughout the region.
