On September 18th local self-government elections were held in Armavir, Tavoush, Syunik, Aragatsotn and Ararat regions. The final results on the elections will be announced on September 23rd.
On September 18th local self-government elections were held in Armavir, Tavoush, Syunik, Aragatsotn and Ararat regions. The elections were conducted in 317 communities with participation of 49.5 percent of voters. The Republican Party candidates have been reelected in Aparan, Etchmiadzin, Goris, Vedi and Noyemberyan , while a non-party candidate won in Ashtarak elections.
According to the preliminary data released by the Central Electoral Commission Etchmiadzin city acting Mayor was elected again. The only candidate at Masis was reelected again. The elections were observed by 353 observers from10 local organizations, as well as observers from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
Prosecutor General’s Office has studied more than 200 reports on possible violations, including the mass media and NGO publications, as well as citizen calls and written applications. 108 out of the cases have been filed to the police.
The final results on the elections will be announced on September 23rd.
