Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan announced during a visit to Armavir region, that over 10 tons of tomatoes have been processed so far this year, which exceeds last year’s harvest (500 tons more). Currently processing activities are being conducted by Ararat and Armavir region processing companies, the ministry press service informs. The Minister states efforts are being taken to involve other companies in the process. “Special attention should be paid to the fact that this year’s tomato export volumes have rapidly increased, and the framers have sold most of their harvest to exporters, in addition to consumption in domestic markets”, the Minister said.
Despite the hails in some of the communities, Armavir region has recorded quite a good harvest. In addition to this, over 1600 hectare sown areas have been added to the existing areas, 300 hectares of which grow tomatoes.
