August 16th will linger in the history of Armenian athletics. Our delegates at the Olympics proved an unprecedented success by taking 4 Olympic medals within 24 hours, 3 of which were silver, and one gold ever since 1996.
Weightlifter Simon Martirosyan took the first silver medal, followed by Greco-Roman wrestler Arthur Aleksanyan winning gold, and Mihran Harutyunyan, who took silver. The successful day ended with Gor Minasyan taking silver.
