Winemakers are facing uncertainty: the harvest season will launch in a month, yet they have no idea yet who the processors are and what the accepted volume of grapes will be. The processing companies, except a few ones, refuse to sign a contract with the peasants, saying they do not need grapes.
How are the processing companies supposed to produce vodka, wine or brandy, if they are not buying natural grapes?, winemakers complain. Head of the Union of Armenian winemakers Artak Sargsyan states, quite often processing companies use fake materials to produce wine, in order to increase their profits, while, at the same time, leaving winemakers in a bad state.
