In 1960 the Soviet Government of Armenia adopted a decision to erect the statue of architect Alexander Tamanyan. A competition was announced afterwards, with participation of hundreds of sculptors. Artashes Hovsepyan was trusted Tamanyan’s stone portrait. Today marks the birthday of sculptor Hovsepyan.
