As a result of a car accident on Tsitsernakaberd highway on May 20th, weapons were found in one of the cars. The driver and passenger of the car were detained on the suspicion of storing and transferring illegal weapons and ammunition. “Armenpress” was informed about the incident from Public Relations department of Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Within the framework of the case, as a result of joint extensive investigation operations, it turned out that with the use of firearms together with a group of people Zhirayr Sefilyan planned to seize buildings and communications facilities, including Yerevan’s television tower.
On June 20th, 2016, Sefilyan was taken under custody on suspicion of organizing illegal acquirement, transfer, and possession of weapons and ammunition by a group of people.
An investigation is underway to determine details.
